You can choose yourself if you want to switch two factor authentication on for your account. This adds an extra layer of security to the login process. Read here how to set up two factor authentication for your account. This article discusses how you adjust the settings of two factor authentication

To adjust the settings of two factor authentication, take the following steps:

  • Go to My account -> Two-factor authentication.

Change phone number

Do you receive the verification code per text message on your mobile phone and do you want to change your phone number? Then change your old phone number for your new number here.

Change app or device

Do you use an authenticator app to receive the verification code? Here you can add a new device to your authenticator app or link a new authentication app to your Karify account.

  • If you not yet have an authenticator app, you can download and install one on a device of choice, for instance a phone or a tablet. Go to the App Store or Google Play Store and download one of the following apps: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Authy.
  • Open the authenticator app, click on the ‘+’ icon and scan the QR-code with the camera of your device. Are you having trouble to scan the QR-code? Then you can also fill in the code manually.
  • Copy the 6-digit verification code from your authenticator app. Every 30 seconds the app generates new codes. The replaced code remains valid for 30 more seconds; every code is thus valid for a total of 1 minute. Fill in the most recent code and click on Verify.

Change verification method

Do you use an authenticator app and do you prefer to receive the verification code per text message, or vice versa? Here you can adjust the way in which you receive the verification code. For more information on how to set this up, click here

Generate new backup codes

You can use a backup code to log into your account when you lost access to the device on which you receive the verification code. You can use each backup code only once. Have you lost your backup codes, or used up all your backup codes? Then you can generate new backup codes here.

N.B.: You lose access to your account when you lose access to your device and the backup code. Store the backup codes therefore on a safe place. You can for instance print the backup codes and keep them in your wallet, or safe them in a document on your computer.

Reset and ask for a verification code on all devices
While logging in, you can mark your devices as ‘trusted’, so that on these devices you do not have to fill in a verification code every time you log in. If you want your trusted devices to be 'forgotten' - for instance because your device has been lost or stolen - you can reset your trusted devices here.

Deactivate two factor authentication

Do you want to log in with only your username and password? Then switch two factor authentication off here. Henceforth, you will not be required to fill in a verification code while logging in.
